I spent 4 days in Paris in October. This is the first time I’ve been in Paris properly, and I’m so happy that I finally went. I was so incredibly lucky with the weather – 23 degrees and sunshine, perfect for wandering from sit-down spot to sit-down spot, which I found out Paris is absolutely brimming with. On the first day I spent my afternoon roaming around the Pere Lachaise cemetery – what an absolutely amazing site! So incredibly atmospheric.
I just loved all the gothic details at this churchyard. Moss-grown gravestones and black crows everywhere..
And then this beautiful state of slight decay, with fallen leaves and old flowers everywhere, not to mention no small number of broken open graves.. I think Pere Lachaise might be a slightly spooky place at night!
I didn’t realize until I came home that Pere Lachaise is the place where Jim Morrison of The Doors is buried, and I never came across his grave. Until next time..!

What a gorgeous place.! It was quite hot so after an hour or so I found a nice spot with a view to sit down and enjoy myself. If just someone had rushed in with a cooled glass of white wine for me the picture would have been complete!
I was also pretty fascinated by this ‘grave-street’, complete with the black crows.
Pere Lachaise is definitely a wonderful background for some artful photos in a red dress. I almost didn’t want to leave this place as it was just so enjoyable to explore, but I had a dinner date with some of my family that happened to be in Paris at the same time. Visiting Pere Lachaise was the perfect end to a good day of exploring, and definitely worth the walk out there from center of town.
